Design Wall

I finally have something that I'm working on and can share.  I have a Project Linus quilt to make.  My guild took a challenge to make a quilt within the next two months and return it to the coordinator.  The bag I picked was called "Coral Reef".  These are the fabrics that I started with.
I decided to add these to it.
Hard to believe that some yellow and orange would add so much to a quilt.  I decided not to add pink and that way it could be used by a boy that liked fish too.

My DD's fabric started as this.  We decided to add these fabrics to what we had and remove the red with the white hearts as the red really clashes with the focus fabric.

Now I just need to get it all washed and ready to cut.  That is my goal for the week to get at least one of the tops made.  I will be making my daughter's quilt as she has returned to college during the day and if she has time, she helps me with the cutting and sewing the blocks together.  She hasn't learned to machine quilt yet as she is still a beginner and hasn't done more than make blocks.  It can be very interesting to watch her sew sometimes.

Stash Report Week #5

Another week has gone by and I didn't get a chance to sit at my machine.  I watched my youngest grandson during the day while his dad was at work. He was cranky all week as he is cutting teeth and only wanted to be held.  I did manage to decide what pattern I will be making for one of the Project Linus quilts that I will be making.  At guild we each got a bag with fabric in it.  The one I picked was called coral reef.  The four fabrics in the bag were: fish with coral, a lime green that matches the background of the fish, a teal blue and a dark blue that has a wavy pattern that looks like seaweed on it.  I have to use at least two of the fabrics and I can add up to three more.  The focus fabric is only 1-1/2 yards so I only need to make a kids quilt(36" x 36" up to 40" x 60").  If I have enough fabric I will make a 48" x 60" quilt.  I decided to make a disappearing 9 patch using 5" squares.  The one my daughter picked needs to be 48" x 60" or a 60" square up to a twin size quilt.  I have the odd feeling that I will be making hers too.  Hers is called the sound of music and the focus fabric has a navy/black background with all kinds of musical notes and stuff on it.  The fabrics that came with it are a 2+ yard piece of red, 3 yards of black and white stripe and 3/4 of a yard of red with small white hearts.  I will get some pictures tomorrow when the light is better in the house.
I bought some fabric to add to what we started with.  3-1/4 yards for DD's and 1-1/4 yards for the one I'm making.  I'll count all the fabric as going into my stash as she uses mine and doesn't have one yet.  It is supposed to be snowy tomorrow and I plan on working on ufo #5 and getting it to a flimsy so I can count it next week in the used category.

Stash Report #4

Well it must have been a week for stuff to go around.  I have been under the weather all week.  I'm just starting to feel better and maybe this week will get some time to spend at my machine.  I had wanted to work on my second set of blocks for guild last week but it looks like I can do that this week.  I also want to get ufo #5 to the flimsy stage.  DS1 wants me to make a goblin for his son.  I have the pattern and fabric.  I just need to make it and stuff it.  It should be a half day project with the hand stitching.  Maybe tomorrow I'll work on it.

Stash Report week #3

I did some sewing and got my blocks done on Tuesday.  I didn't take any pictures so I will ask the leader of the exchange to take some and email them to me.  That was all I accomplished for sewing this past week.  My daughter asked me to help her make a quilt for Project Linus that has to be done by the end of March.  I have the odd feeling that I will be doing most of it.  She grabbed 2 as she felt I needed one to make also.  As that fabric isn't entering my stash, I'm not counting it until it is scraps as the Project Linus coordinator didn't want the scraps back.  I will probable use the larger pieces and make a pillow case to go with the quilt.  The one that she picked for me has to be at least 48" x 60" or 60" x 60" and up to twin sized.  I think hers is similar sized.

What I did buy was for guild, and the block exchange so here is the breakdown of what I bought and what I used last week.   4 fat quarters for Holiday exchange, 1 fat quarter for fat quarter raffle, 4 fat quarters for the blocks I made and 2 fat quarter, 2 fat eighths and some scraps to equal a yard for my secret sister at guild.   I hope to get in the black soon.

Stash Report week #2

Here it is week #2 of the stash report and I can honestly say that I have not sewn all week.  I haven't even looked at my machine.  I know that this week will be better as I have sewing to do for guild.  I need to get 7 blocks done by Tuesday night.  I also have to have a yard of fabric for the gift exchange.  The guild decided to move the Christmas Party to January so it wasn't as stressful for everyone.  I think that it has worked out well.
Next week I should have some changes to see and hopefully tomorrow there will be something on my design table.
