Happy New Year

Hello and Happy New Year!
I'm a little early, I know but I will be in bed when the new year arrives.
I visited Judy L's site Patchwork Times and for the monochromatic Challenge she drew the color yellow for January.  I need to find some yellow and make something now.  I have a few ideas in my head, so now I need to put them down on paper.  I hopefully will have something to show on Mondays Blog and Judy's Design wall.  Hopefully I have some yellow fabrics to use.
Tomorrow I will try to share a picture of the pork loin that we are having for dinner and the recipe for the rub.  It is a chocolate, chili rub and one of my favorites.  DH's day to cook, and he is a very good cook.  He is serving smashed garlic potatoes and broccoli with the pork loin.
Last night I watched my granddaughter who is 5 months old.  I didn't get a whole lot done with her here.  It is great to be able babysit and send them home.  Gwyn is a good baby, she has been a little cranky as she is cutting teeth.  My daughter hasn't been sleeping well as the babe keeps her up.  This is her first child so she hasn't learned all the tricks.
I plan on starting on my ufo's tomorrow after I visit Judy's site and see which one she draws.
I hope that you all have a safe and happy new year and that the next one is better than this one was.

2011 Monochromatic Challenge

I signed up to try Judy Laquidara's 2011 Monochromatic Challenge Basically on the last day of the month, Judy draws a number and the corresponding number and color are to be used for a quilt, pillowcase, table runner, etc... You can use as much of the chosen color as you would like.  It doesn't have to be all one fabric as long as it is the correct color. So I could use up some of the purples that seem to multiplying in their tote.  We can also add a background color, such as white, cream, black or whatever.
I think that this will be a fun challenge.  Some of the colors I don't have in my stash, so I may have to ask a few of my friends for that color or take the ultimate sacrifice and go shopping.  I don't seem to have yellow or indigo in my stash.

Here is the list of colors:

1. Red
2. Orange
3. Yellow
4. Green
5. Blue
6. Indigo
7. Violet
8. Pink
9. Brown

We will be doing this Jan. - Sept., Oct. will be a two color quilt, and Nov. will be black and white and a color.  We will take Dec. off.
I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

2011 UFO Project

Judy L. at Patchwork Times has challenged her readers to finish 12 ufo's during 2011.  You just pick 12 ufo's and number them 1 to 12.  Whatever number is picked on the first of the month is the ufo you work on for the month and hopefully finish. Here are my goals for 2011!

1.Bali Pop Quilt for new grandchild
2.Blooming 9 Patch -class from about 5 years ago
3. Puzzler, reproduction fabrics - this was a BOM swap in my guild last year
4.Paint Chip Challenge - this year's challenge
5.Drunkard's Path - class from Oct. 2010
6.Tote bags - 1 for a friend and 1 for my daughter
7.Puzzler, batiks - BOM from a few years ago
8. NY Beauty - Class with Linda J. Hahn from Oct. 2010

10. Spinning Stars - only if I can find the pattern
11.Bali Pop Quilt for new grandchild
12.Flannel Quilt for my grand daughter
13.Dinosaur Quilt for my grand son

My goal for this is to at least get the tops done.  I would be real pleased to get them quilted and bound too.

Hello

Welcome and Hello!
I thought that I would give blogging a try.  I plan on using my blog to keep track of my quilting, sewing and machine embroidery, oh and recipes that DH and I have come up with.  I will try to post on a regular basis and learn how to add pictures.
Here is a little personal info on me and hopefully I will keep this for quilting.  I may occasionally talk about my grandchildren and pets.
I am 46 years old and married to a great guy for the past 12 years.  I have 3 children from a previous marriage and DH has accepted them as his.  We currently have 4 grandchildren and just found out that there are 2 more on the way in May 2011.  The older of my two sons lives with us and 5 dogs and 6 cats share the house with us.
We live in Pennellville, NY which is about 20 miles North of Syracuse.  We currently have received 6 feet of snow in the month of December and we are about 6 inches from breaking the record for the most snow in a month.  I will occasionally post pictures of the wonderful snow and other pictures from the yard.  Right now the snow is all trampled from the dogs playing in it.  Hopefully we will get the 6 inches to freshen up the snow so it looks all white again.
